We're taking a cue from the boys this season. Menswear-inspired fashion has had a major makeover in the last couple of years, popping up all over the fashion world. From boyfriend jeans, to oversized blazers, and oxford shoes—we love everything this trend has to offer. When done right, this trend can add the perfect masculine touch to your look. Now, out of all the ways to pull off the mens-inspired trend, we have to say our favourite (shocker) is menswear-inspired shoes—there is just something sophisticated about wearing a clean-cut brogue, oxford or loafer.
Now that we've told you why we love this trend, lets move on to how you can pull it off. There are several pieces that belong to this trend, one of our favourites being the oxford shoe. This particular shoe has deep menswear-inspired roots, that when paired well can result in a polished-chic look. While there are several ways to wear this look, the most important thing to consider is to find a look that best suits your own style. We've enlisted the help of fashion blogger Queen Horsfall to see how she styles her menswear-inspired Hardy shoes. Read on to see how she pulls it off.
Style tip #1: Keep it casual
When in doubt, go casual. If you're looking to add a bit of structure to your casual look, add a pair of oxfords into the mix. In order to effortlessly achieve seamless results, think about the whole head-to-toe outfit. The most important tip is to use the shoes as the building blocks of your ensemble. Do this by utilizing streamlined silhouettes like cropped skinnies and choosing simple contrasting shades and colours like black, grey, white and navy, letting the shoes be the focal point of the look. Queen Horsfall amps up her casual look by styling her Hardy "Nikki" oxfords with a pair of navy skinnies, black blazer, army green military tee, a simple over-the-shoulder purse and sunnies.
Style tip #2: Colour play
There's nothing like a bit of colour to make your look pop. Spring and summer time is absolutely the perfect season to play with colours. Instead of opting for the typical blacks or browns, mix it up with feminine colours like candy and rose quartz pinks and blues in light teal and aqua, brightening things up for the warmer days. QUEEENHORSFALL nicely pairs her Hardy "Cara" loafers with a cool grey maxi dress, sunnies and simple accessories.
