3 SEATTLE HOT SPOTS

We all know that Seattle is famous for its coffee and music scenes, but once you're in Seattle, where should you go? Our SHOES crew were in Seattle for the Capitol Hill Block Party, and came back raving about these three spots.

Oddfellows Café and Bar
Oddfellows
Oddfellows3 Oddfellows1
Oddfellows2
Why we liked it:
  • Odd fellows has a homey, laid-back atmosphere with lots of exposed beams and bricks
  • It's well-known for the weekend brunch and its New American cuisine
  • They have bacon and cheddar biscuit with an egg baked into it and it was absolutely delicious
  • Rather than leaving a bill in a folder, they attach it to a neat Oddfellows postcard with an image of the original members of the Seattle Oddfellows

Everyday Music
Music Music3
Music2 Music1
Why we liked it:
  • It's an independent record store on Capitol Hill (10th & Pine)
  • It has an incredibly diverse selection of music on all media (records, CDs, we even found a Geto Boys cassette)
  • They have listening stations where you bring the record or CD to an employee and they’ll open it for you to listen to before buying
  • It's got that traditional Lo-fi record store feel (wood plank floors, lit with lots of skylight)

Starbucks Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room
SBR SBR3
SBR2 SBR1
Why we liked it:
  • This is the Flagship Starbucks store in Capitol Hill (Pike & Melrose)
  • It's a massive coffee shrine that welcomes anyone from the uninitiated to the coffee aficionado to a rotating selection of specialty coffees that are roasted in-house
  • It has amazing copper work inside the building and on the massive roasters
  • We were immediately greeted by knowledgeable employees with samples of the current rotation of coffees
  • You can get coffee brewed by nearly every method, from siphon brewing to French press
