Many Vancouverites will recognize Riaz Meghji's eloquent manner of speech (and great fashion sense)—he co-hosts Breakfast Television every morning on CityTV, and charms audiences as the host for TEDxVancouver. We caught up with this local personality to chat about "Sexy Sunday" style and his go-to wardrobe piece for extra confidence.

As a Vancouverite, we’re sure you have that casual, yoga-inclined gene. What do you think about the “athleisure” trend?

All for it. Comfort is king in my eyes. If you feel good, you'll look good, no matter what you're wearing. No track pants on date night with the wife though. Gotta draw the line somewhere.

We’ll spare you the Google image search—how has your style evolved over the years
The wardrobe went from black and grey to a much more diverse colour palette. There may have been blue contacts and earrings during a laughable and unforgettable era thanks to Google. That and the hair is starting to give Gandalf the Grey a run for his money

We’re used to seeing you on the couch presenting Breakfast Television every morning. Any tips for looking extra sharp on camera?
The more colour, the better. I work with a great crew at Harry Rosen to assemble a versatile wardrobe of colour and texture. A pop of colour with the pocket square is always a nice finishing touch to add that polish on camera.

Do you have a go-to look for that extra confidence boost?
Blue blazer alert.

What is the key to a great “business casual” Men’s look?

Choose one item to stand out, then get out of its way. If you have a power blazer, let that be the focal point and mute the rest of the outfit so there aren’t shoes or pants battling for attention.

What menswear trends are you excited to dabble in for FW’15?

More bold patterns for the blazers. Rather than traditional suits, I'm a big fan of soft tailored sports jackets and the combinations you can coordinate for a complete and unique look.

You’re a sharped dressed man Monday through Friday. What do you wear to grab coffee on a Sunday morning?

Jogging pants and a hoodie. I like to call it “Sexy Sunday.”

If you could only wear one shoe for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

A good high top sneaker. I’m definitely more function over fashion in my down time. Preferably with Velcro though, as my wife makes fun of the fact my laces always come undone.

Do you have any exciting projects coming up that you can share with us?

In addition to the daily content we create with BT Vancouver, also really proud to be working with the TEDxVancouver team. This year the theme is "Identity" and the dialogue presented will provide a powerful mirror for the audience to look at how they define their own lives.

Also, this Fall there will be several new interviews released online for the Every Conversation Counts project which has been a labour of love to help people learn about and build meaningful relationships.

Be sure to catch Riaz Mondays through Friday every morning on Breakfast Television on CityTV for more of that charming personality of his and stylish digs. Also, be sure to follow him on Twitter and Instagram for personal updates and style inspiration.
