It’s been a few months since Katie Goldie showed us some of her favourite spots to hike, adventure and explore around North America. Now, we’ve caught up with her again, this time in the beautiful Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Her stunning photography of the park transport us to a winter wonderland and tips on what to wear when exploring in the winter has given us major wanderlust.
Banff is arguably the most beautiful place in the world! It also is quite close to where I live so it seemed like the obvious choice to shoot snow boots. The mountains in that national park make my job way easier
WHO DID YOU BRING WITH YOU ON YOUR TRIP?
I brought my long time friend Jordana Shell with me on this trip, as well as my cousin Randi Ramage and our adventure pup Allie. Jordana and I met hiking a couple years ago and have been taking photos together ever since, she is really easy to shoot as well. Randi is like a sister to me and it seemed like a good way to spend more time with her, and she makes a good model too. Allie, the Bull Mastiff puppy, well do I need a reason to bring her? Other than her obvious adorable looks!
WHAT DID YOU GET UP TO DURING YOUR WEEKEND IN BANFF?
We tried to soak in as much as possible while we were there. We started at Two Jack Lake for sunrise and then found ourselves sipping coffee in the back of the truck at Lake Minnewanka taking in the views. We ate, played and laughed most of the weekend! We had a wonderful campfire at Cascade Ponds and roasted some marshmallows with hot chocolate. It was a really great weekend where we just relaxed and took photos!
WHERE DID YOU STAY WHILE YOU WERE THERE?
We stayed at a beautiful lodge called Hidden Mountain Lodge. Not only do they take pets but they have a great outdoor hot tub we took advantage of!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT OF THE WEEKEND?
I really enjoyed all of the weekend, but the best moments were when we laughed. We would be fooling around making Snapchat stories and just laughing, telling jokes and sharing stories.
WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DID YOU BRING WITH YOU TO SHOOT WITH?
I have a Canon Rebel t5i DSLR and I have about 4-5 different lenses I use on that body.
HOW HAS YOUR PASSION FOR THE OUTDOORS GROWN OVER THE YEARS?
I have always been raised outside since I was a little girl growing up at our family's cabin. We never grew up with technology or television so we had to entertain ourselves outside. I suppose I've just never grown out of loving the outdoors.
I've had Baffin and Sorrel boots since I was little and I've never had cold feet. I spend my childhood snowmobiling and skiing in the winter which requires a good boot and the Baffin and Sorrel Brands have always been good to me. It's something you can trust in a cold Canadian Winter, and you don't want to be stuck with a poor boot.

WHAT ARE 3 OF YOUR GO-TO PRODUCTS THAT YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT WHEN EXPLORING THE OUTDOORS?
It depends on the season but number one would be my camera! I love taking photos so much and exploring and photography have seemed to fit so perfectly. I never leave without a down puffy, summer or winter, those coats save your life! Good hiking shoes, boots and camp shoes are essential. I also never leave without my phone, I love to share my adventures with others via social media, it is part of the fun for me.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 DREAM OUTDOOR DESTINATION AND WHY?
My top three outdoor destinations are New Zealand, Iceland and Patagonia. I'm making New Zealand happen in the new year!
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN OUTDOOR WINTER ACCESSORIES?
I look for something durable and warm firstly, you don't mess around in the winter here in Canada with the cold. Secondly I look for fashion. I'm still a girl and I still like to look good so a nice looking Jacket or Boot will win me over. Thirdly I look at trusted brands, if I've used a trusted brand in the past it's likely I will buy another.
